I Switched from Android to iOS and These are the 5 Things I Miss the Most
As someone who has used Android devices for years, I recently made the switch to an iPhone and have been discovering the differences between the two operating systems. While there are certainly some things that I appreciate about iOS, there are also a few features that I miss from my old Android device. Here are the top 5 things that I miss the most:
- Customization Options
One of the things I loved about Android was the ability to customize my home screen and notification shade to my heart’s content. With iOS, there’s no way to change the layout of the home screen or add custom widgets, which feels limiting compared to the flexibility of Android. Additionally, the notification shade on iOS is much simpler than the one on Android, with no option to add custom buttons or controls.
- Split-Screen Mode
Another feature that I miss from Android is split-screen mode. On my old Samsung Galaxy phone, I could easily use two apps side-by-side, which was incredibly useful for multitasking. While iOS does have a split-view mode, it’s not nearly as intuitive or easy to use as the Android version.
- Expandable Storage
I also miss the ability to expand my device’s storage capacity with a microSD card. On my old Android phone, I could add up to 256GB of extra storage, which was incredibly useful for storing photos, videos, and apps. Unfortunately, iOS devices do not have this feature, so I’m limited to the built-in storage capacity.
- Custom Icon Packs
One of the things that made my Android device feel truly personalized was the ability to install custom icon packs. With iOS, there’s no way to change the default app icons, which can make my home screen feel a bit bland and uniform. While there are some third-party apps that offer custom icon options, they’re not nearly as extensive or easy to use as the ones on Android.
- Google Assistant Integration
Finally, I miss the seamless integration between my device and Google Assistant. On my old Android phone, I could easily access Google Assistant with a long press of the home button, and it would work flawlessly with my device’s hardware. While Siri is a decent virtual assistant in its own right, it doesn’t quite match up to Google Assistant in terms of functionality or compatibility with other devices.
In conclusion, while I’m enjoying my new iPhone and the unique features that come with it, there are certainly some things that I miss about my old Android device. From customization options to split-screen mode, expandable storage, custom icon packs, and Google Assistant integration, these are the top 5 things that I miss the most. However, I’m excited to explore all that iOS has to offer and discover new ways to make my device work for me.
